CBI, The Netherlands
Centre for romotion of Imports from Developing Countries
CBI, the Centre for Promotion of Imports into the European Union, is an agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands government. As a part of its Export Coaching Programmes (ECPS), it has contributed immensely in improving the export capability of more than 500 companies in India. In the last ECP for Engineering held in November 2009, Mr Peter van der Sman, the senior CBI Coach, felt there were manufacturers of components and system integrators in the programme who when put together could form a good base for forming a Mechtronics cluster on the lines of similar such clusters in Europe. Such a Cluster could offer innovative low cost automation solutions. All the participants welcomed the idea and requested the CBI Consultant to approach CBI to support this cluster under the guidance of Mr J.R.Mahajan, a senior Indian consultant with experience in automation. Realising the potential of the proposal in advancing automation in India and its scope in building collaboration between European and Indian industry in searching for optimum innovative solutions in a variety of applications , CBI management has agreed to support this activity.
CBI contributes to sustainable economic development in developing countries through the expansion of exports from these countries.
